These art works are unique, individually crafted using used boxes. They are kinetic and interactive. They are ideal for use on coffee tables as points of interest. They are to be played with, interacted with, to be enjoyed and entertained by. Sculpture for the discerning contemporary art collector.

There is a long history of using found objects, of the everyday, in art going back to the Dada movement. It can be argued that the foundation of contemporary art was Marcel Duchamp’s urinal entitled “fountain” in 1917 and Man Ray’s flat iron entitled “Cadeau” 1921 being another well known example.

Here you are being given the opportunity to purchase original contemporary art works by Bill Urmenyi.

The art works for sale are all unique. Please note that some works require installation and are only available on request by email. Click on images to see details and video.

Please note that WorldPay are one of the most secure payment facilities.

The art works take a long time to make and the overhead costs are high as they can not be made at home.

This is a book in CDROM  format for artists wanting to use electronics in their art works.
There are many pages on my site about this book. Click on the ‘Book’  button above

This is a stone box, which has a touch sensor.
When you place your hand on the top of the box,
it throbs with light three times. It is a bit like a heart
Beat. So by touching it, you are bringing it to life.

In this work, a modelling scalpel moves slowly back and
forth across a stone. It will be obvious that the stone is far
too hard for the knife to make any impression on it.  There
is a gentle sound of the motor, precision ball bearing slide
and the knife blade across the stone.

This work is in a cigar box. When you open the box, a red
LED lights up and fades away. A simple but elegant work.

Another work in a cigar box. This time a steel ball rolls
down a slide when you open the box and slides back
again when you close it. This work has to do with sound
as much as movement.

This work comprises 8 individually made pin hammers.
They each have slightly different heads and the
handles are of different lengths. The work uses both
random time between events and random hammer
Selection. The random generator is pure random and is
not computer generated. Occasionally all 8 hammers
are operated in a rapid sequence.

When you slide the lid fully open, the dominos stand
up.  When you slide the lid slightly back, the dominos
ripple flat again. This is a little difficult to see on the
video because it happens quite quickly.

This work is in a cigar box. When you open the lid, 5
very loud sounders are activated. This can be quite
startling.
