In
this piece, a robot arm is suspended in space on wires and continuously
shakes its hand as if in greeting. It is pointing towards a wall and moves
up and down and from side to side aimlessly. It cannot actually shake
hands because the wrist is not articulated. There is no switch, so it
cannot be turned off. The only way to stop it is to remove the battery. It
just carries on and on whether there is anybody there or not.
The material used is aluminium. The hand is an
aluminium casting of my hand.
